Brie Larson reveals she didn't even tell her MUM she'd got the role of Captain ...

She's the first woman to lead a Marvel superhero film as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the blockbuster of the same name.

And Brie Larson joked that she was so intent on keeping her casting a secret she didn't even tell her mum she'd got the role, out of fear it would get leaked to fans.

The actress, 29, made the surprising admission while appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show in scenes set to air on Saturday, as she explained: 'I think Marvel expected me to at least tell my mum, but I was so scared.

'I didn’t know, I was like, "What if they had tapped my phone" or maybe they were going to come tackle me in the street the minute I opened my mouth, so I just didn’t say anything.'

Going on to talk about how happy she was for the film to come out, the Oscar winner added: 'I’m most excited for this movie to come out so now I can finally go to sleep knowing I didn’t spoil it.

'Everyone found out the same time the press found out, when I walked on the stage at Comic Con. It was a relief more than anything else [to reveal it] and it was exciting.'
