'I’m not getting younger. So I want to celebrate who I am today.'
Cindy posed for two Playboy spreads (from 1988 and 1998), which saw her pose naked for legendary photographer Herb Ritts.
She has enjoyed a 30-year career in the industry and Cindy is happily married to her husband of 21-years Rande Gerber and they are parents to Kaia, 17 and Presley, 21.
Cindy says that while her fame has surely given Kaia 'some advantages,' it hasn't opened as many doors as people might think.
Pride and joy: Cindy says that while her fame has surely given daughter Kaia 'some advantages,' it hasn't opened as many doors as people might think
She noted: 'Kaia had some advantages. She is my daughter and people know that.
'But when people say that I bought her a cover of a magazine, I think, if I was going to buy a cover for someone, it would be me!
'If I could get someone into a fashion show, I would be getting it for myself.'
She also said: 'It was a good thing that she couldn’t work on the runway until she was 16. There are laws about that. After that I couldn’t really hold her back.
'You hope that all of the advice and guidance and role modeling that you did sticks. That’s the stage of parenting when you think, "Ok, hope you can fly!"'
But Cindy said she's a real overprotective mother when it comes to people attacking her children on social media.
She said: 'But when people say that I bought her a cover of a magazine, I think, if I was going to buy a cover for someone, it would be me!' but admits she is 'overprotective'
'I can’t believe how hateful people can be. As much as people put garbage on my Instagram, it doesn’t bother me. But when they do it to my kids I think, grrr.
'But you’re not supposed to go after [the haters]. It’s shocking.'
Cindy always believed her own career would only ever last five years.
