Danvers becomes an integral figure in the brewing war between two alien races, the Kree and the Skrulls, in the first Marvel movie set in the 1990s. Larson leads a cast that also includes Jude Law as Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, Lashanna Lynch as Maria Rambeau, plus returning Marvel stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson. On making Marvel's first female-led movie, co-director Anna Boden told MailOnline at the premiere: 'This was an awesome experience making this film for Marvel, having someone who I really believe in playing this character and who inspired me everyday. 'Now being able to bring it into the world, and let go of it, first of all means we get to stop working on it and take a big long nap, [but] also have other people see [which] is great.'
