Actor Tom Goodman-Hill has admitted that having an affair behind the back of his first wife has helped him with his latest role in ITV drama Cheat.

The star was married to Kerry Bradley in 2005, and had two children with her, but had an affair with now-wife Call The Midwife star Jessica Raine in 2013.

In his new role, the Mr Selfridge actor, 50, portrays the straying husband of Dr Leah Dale [played by Katherine Kelly].

Tom told Radio Times of taking on the part: 'I was very conscious of that when I picked up the script. If you understand the map, if you know how that feels, you’re going to bring something of that to the part.
