Chris Hughes' family home was targeted by burglars, who crept into the house at night and stole two shotguns and a 'large amount of cash' that were at the property.

According to a report from The Mirror, on Friday, no one in the house heard the incident take place as the Love Island star, 26, was asleep.

Speaking to the publication, a source said: 'It’s frightening to think they were able to get in and out from right under their noses and no one noticed.

'Chris is really worried about what those guns could be used for.'

The reality star lives on the property with his parents Stephen and Valerie, and the publication reported the shotguns were legally held and securely stored.

Chris is currently lending his support to Ceva Animal Health to launch Pet Anxiety Month which aims to educate owners that their pet’s disruptive behaviour can be as a result of anxiety or stress.

They are the creators of the Adaptil and Feliway pet behaviour products, produced to help dogs and cats handle stressful situations.

A representative for Chris declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.
