Dancing On Ice champion James Jordan has revealed he now needs surgery to fix his partially dislocated shoulder after powering through his three final performances.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 40, was crowned king of the ice on Sunday night with his partner Alexandra Schauman, beating Wes Nelson, 20, and Saara Alto, 31, to the title.
But the dancer admitted he nearly called it quits ahead of the final after suffering an injury to his shoulder in rehearsals.
Painful: Dancing On Ice champion James Jordan has revealed he now needs surgery to fix his partially dislocated shoulder after powering through his three final performances
He explained how it was only thanks to a heavy dose of painkillers and six hours of physio that he hit the rink.
Speaking to The Sun, James said: ‘When I woke up on Sunday morning I said to producers, “I’m out. I’m not going to be able to perform because of my shoulder.” I could not lift my arm.
‘Sharon, the show’s physio, is the only reason I got to perform on the night. I said to her, “Do whatever you can to get me through those three dances and I’ll love you forever”, and she did. Now I’m going to need surgery.’
