Kiwi model Georgia Fowler is criticised for sharing bikini photos after attack

A New Zealand model has defended herself after fans criticised her for failing to acknowledge Friday's terrorist attack that saw 50 worshippers murdered at two Christchurch mosques.

Georgia Fowler, 26, who hails from Auckland but has lived in New York since 2008, has been sharing bikini-clad photos from her Cayman Islands getaway on Instagram over the past four days.

Some of her social media followers have expressed the opinion that, as her country's most high-profile model, she should have issued a statement about the massacre.

'Do you really think it's appropriate to be posting pictures of you in a bikini at a time like this? You are supposed to be a role model but instead you are an absolutely embarrassment to New Zealand. You should be ashamed of yourself.'
