Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston reveal fears over characters' fate as they tease explosive twists for series five

It has been nearly two years since 10.4million BBC1 viewers tuned in to watch Line Of Duty's explosive series four finale. 

And AC-12's Vicky McClure (DS Kate Fleming), Adrian Dunbar (Superintendent Ted Hastings) and Martin Compston (DS Steve Arnott) have promised series five will bring yet more plot twists in an interview with Radio Times. 

Ahead of the show airing later this month, fans have been teased with Balaclava Men, a code name 'H', three police officers killed in cold blood and an 'institutional cover-up'.

And Adrian has revealed no character is safe from creator Jed Mercurio and they too were left in the dark over their fate: 'People often think we must know in advance – from Jed or our agents – how many episodes we’ve been booked for in the next series, 'he said. 

'But you don’t really know. You open the first script not knowing if it’s going to be “Jason Watkins Time”.

'And, I’ll tell you, the more you have to do in early episodes, the more fearful you are that it’s building up to you going out with a bang.
