Michael Keaton reveals why he quit stand-up comedy career for acting on Ellen DeGeneres Show: 'I really wanted to be great at something'

Michael Keaton is the star of Disney's live-action remake of the 1941 animated classic, Dumbo.

As part of the promotional tour, Keaton made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that airs on Tuesday. 

During the sit-down he shared that he's 'kind of the bad guy' in the film. He also let fans in a little known fact that he started out his career in show business as a stand up-comedian.

'I really wanted to be an actor, but I was so in love with comedy and I was starting to write a little bit,' Keaton confessed to Ellen during his sit-down interview.

'I started doing stand-up in New York actually.'

But after some time, the 67-year old said he realized he wanted to 'really, really, really wanted to be great at something so I threw the focus at acting.'
