'Some people would rather just see my boobs and butt': Elyse Knowles wants her Instagram followers to appreciate more than just bikini photos - as she hopes to 'educate them about sustainability and the eco-friendly life' By Jo Scrimshire and Aleksandra Pavlovska For Daily Mail Australia Published: 21:57 BST, 3 April 2019 | Updated: 22:02 BST, 3 April 2019 Viewcomments Elyse Knowles has a message to her Instagram followers: 'Stop looking at my body and care about the environment'. The Myer ambassador, 26, said on Thursday that she hopes to use social media to 'educate' people about sustainability, in addition to sharing bikini photos. 'Some people would rather see boobs and butt [on my Instagram],' Elyse told Australian Women's Health magazine. 'Some people would rather see my boobs': Elyse Knowles wants her Instagram followers to appreciate more than just bikini photos - as she hopes to 'educate them about sustainability' The model and former Block star, who recently moved to Byron Bay with her boyfriend Josh Barker, has almost a million followers on Instagram. And while she often posts photos of herself in bikinis, she also shares less glamorous updates about her skin battles and environmental issues. Elyse added: 'I'd rather relate to the people who love me for who I am... I'd rather those people follow me than the people who want to see girls in bikinis all the time.' When it comes to her social media philosophy, Elyse explained that she hopes to 'set an example' for her followers by leading a sustainable life. 'I really want to use [Instagram] to educate people on how they can make small changes to make big difference,' she said. 'I've never been so motivated to live that sustainable, eco-friendly life and share that with others.' It comes after Elyse published a lengthy blog post explaining her recent decision to pack her bags and relocate from Melbourne to Byron Bay. Firstly, she claimed that 'change can bring opportunity' and she was looking forward to finding 'fresh beginnings and a new perspective' on life. '[Moving to a new area] challenges you to go out and meet new people, find new habits and just live your life in a slightly different way,' she said. Her second reason for relocating to Byron Bay is that the community aligns more with her environmentalist values. She said the residents are 'consciously aware of their carbon footprint', adding: 'People care about more than just their actions... They care deeply about the effect their actions have on other people, species and industries. It's a little green hub!' Lastly, Elyse said that living in a busy city like Melbourne can be 'consuming and exhausting', but Byron Bay allows her to visit the beach at any time. 'Life has been quite nuts over the last few years. Just so crazy busy,' she explained. 'What could be better than living in a place where some of the most beautiful beaches in this country would literally sit on our doorstop? Nothing! So Byron it was.' Elyse concluded by saying that the people who live in Byron are more aware of their surroundings and aren't 'focused down on their phones as much'. The Seafolly ambassador and her boyfriend Josh moved to Byron a few weeks ago. Taking to Instagram last month, Elyse revealed how excited she was to embark on this new chapter in her life. 'We have always had this dream, we have decided to make it reality,' she wrote. 'The new adventure has begun! We have packed up our lives and we are moving to Byron Bay! I can't believe it's happening and it's real now! So excited for our new adventure with my man @joshy.barker.' Josh also shared the news with his own social media followers, but clarified that the move was more of a '12-month working holiday'. 'The new adventure has begun!'
