He replaced Sylvia Jeffreys as the Today show's newsreader in January.

But following a disastrous start to the ratings year, Tom Steinfort says things are looking up for the struggling breakfast TV program.

'It's safe to say it's been a pretty wild start to proceedings on Today, but that was always going to be the case,' he told TV Tonight on Thursday.

Tom, 35, made his debut at the start of the year, after Sylvia was redeployed to A Current Affair and former host Karl Stefanovic was replaced by Deborah Knight.
