Adam Sandler is returning to the show that made him famous.

The 52-year-old comic will host SNL for the first time in his career in May, it was announced by the show via Twitter on Friday.

Sandler was both a writer and a star of the long-running sketch show but was unceremoniously fired at the peak of his popularity in 1995.

The funny man will make his debut as host on May 4 along with returning musical guest Shawn Mendes.

'We are happy to welcome Adam back to 'SNL' in what is sure to be a special night,' said executive producer Lorne Michaels, according to Variety.

The Billy Madison star was originally a writer on the show for one year in 1990 and joined the cast in 1991. 

Sandler developed some iconic characters and sketches during his tenure like Opera Man and releasing the perennially popular Chanukah Song.

He also had several famous bits with co-star Chris Farley like the Gap Girls, Hank and Beverley Gelfand and Schlitz Gay. The pair also worked together on Sandler's famous Lunch Lady Land song.
