Mike Thalassitis was laid to rest at Southgate's Christ Church in north London on Friday.

The Love Island star's close friend Montana Brown has now decided to share her moving eulogy from the service, reflecting on Mike's tragic death aged just 26 and urging people to 'check in' on each other more often.

Montana revealed she had grown close to Mike's family as they struggled to process the loss of the footballer, who was found dead near his Edmonton home last month after taking his own life.

Montana posted a throwback holiday picture of herself on a boat, holding a hand up to her sunhat alongside her heartbreaking speech.

She wrote: 'Taking my hat off to big M in the sky for those of you who are asking to see my Eulogy... here’s just a bit of it.

'The last surprise was 2 weeks ago and I can tell you now Mike you surprised us all. I never knew that you were in so much pain, and I’m sorry that you felt like you couldn’t share your demons with me or your family as Ive spent some time with them over the past two weeks and they’re the most down to earth, lovely people and I’m so happy you had such a strong support network.

'So the human body strives to survive, cells regenerate, they reboot, they mutate all to keep the body alive. For Mikes mental illness to push him to the point where he wanted to self destruct and press that final game over button means that he must’ve been in such a dark place which we will never really understand.

'Mike, i truly believe you exhausted every avenue to avoid this outcome, as I know you knew you were loved, by so many people. You’re kind, you’re generous and sometimes very lairy.. but that’s the Mike that we all cherish and love.

'I know there’s a lot of people in the room that would give absolutely anything to have you back. You were so misunderstood, and i feel privileged to have been your friend, and I have to thank you for always being there for me, always sticking up for me and always telling me to stop being such a drama queen.

'You really were the best kind of person and I will always always remember you and learn from this awful situation.'

The post continued with a plea to her fellow reality stars and people everywhere to 'be kinder, be nicer, be more genuine' and to check in on their loved ones.

She shared: 'I keep thinking how we move through things so quickly these days, I mean life is so fast paced and people’s capacities to absorb something new often becomes maxed out. But the whole nation was shocked by this, and this isn’t something you should forget.

'So I’m looking at everyone here right and asking you to change yourself, change how you live your life, change how you love your loved ones and also change how you treat strangers. I can see a lot of reality faces in the room, please do not let this pass you by.

'It’s so hard, the rejection, the competitiveness, the need to constantly look like you’re ok, on social media. So let’s learn from this, we’re all in the same boat, we all have the same stresses...'

Her poignant message concluded with: 'so let’s just be kinder, be nicer, be more genuine and let’s check in on each other and really want to hear the answer. If we can make each other less anxious, then let’s do it as life is too short.

'Mike I know you’re probably overhead telling me to put a cork in it, but I miss you so so much, I miss your laugh, I miss you slating tacky girls, I miss your potty month, I miss correcting your aint’s to isn’t and I miss your friendship.

Gabby Allen, who appeared on the same series of Love Island, told her, 'Love you so much!', while Katie Salmon, who had coupled up with late star Sophie Gradon on Love Island series two, said she couldn't finish reading it.

Following Mike's funeral, his family launched a Just Giving page to raise money for mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably.

Mike's aunt Francesca Goldsmid launched the page alongside a lengthy statement which quashed claims the star, who passed away age 26, had been struggling financially.

While many reports have circulated regarding the reasons behind the tragedy, a prevalent claim has been that Mike was battling money woes, after his friend Montana Brown announced he had 'a massive tax bill'.

On Friday, friends, family and fellow reality TV stars descended upon Christ Church in Southgate to honour the tragic star who was found dead in a woodland near his Edmonton home last month.

After a late entrance to Love Island's second season in 2017, Mike was at the heart of the drama before departing and being propelled into the spotlight - after which Montana claimed he was struggling with the trappings of fame.

Speaking on This Morning shortly after his death, she said: 'He didn't really know what to do for work and he wanted to be his own boss and he didn't know how to do that and I know he had a massive tax bill to be paid...

'I think the stress really got to him, and he kind of thought this fame wasn't what it was cracked up to be, where do I go now?... I don't know if it was a spur of the moment reason. I don't know if he had
