Aggression isn't the type of emotion a comedian would expect his audience to feel during a stand-up show.
So when a fight broke out in the audience at Dave 'Hughsey' Hughes' show Hairy at Melbourne's Town Hall on Saturday night, the 48-year-old understandably didn't know what to do.
Talking on his Hit Network program Hughsey and Kate on Monday afternoon, Hughsey told listeners how a group of four people arrived 15 minutes late - and a little tipsy - to his show.
'This is like an episode of MAFS!' Comedian Dave Hughes was forced to call the police after four unruly audience members started fighting fight during his Melbourne Comedy Festival show over the weekend
After attempting to interact with the latecomers and asking them why they were tardy, he soon found out that this particular crew were going to be trouble.
'They sounded like they had been at a bit of a party and I thought, 'well, okay maybe they'll settle down once they sit down".'
'But I don't think they did settle down once they sat down.'
'This has never happened!' The comedian explained that he tried to carry on with his show, but could hear constant bickering coming from the group.
