Bachelor in Paradise fans spot 'editing fail' during Alex and Richie's showdown

Alex Nation and Richie Strahan's showdown on Wednesday's episode of Bachelor in Paradise was billed as the 'longest unedited scene in reality TV history'.

But viewers have questioned if the awkward nine-minute segment was actually as 'raw and uncut' as Channel 10 wants them to believe.

Several fans took to Twitter to point out that the sun appeared to set in a matter of seconds as the exes were talking outside, which suggests the footage was edited for brevity.

'Unedited my a***, that sunset was mighty fast,' one person tweeted, before another asked: 'Were they sitting there for hours? It's nighttime!'

A similar comment read: 'I can't go past "unedited" and the quickest sunset I have ever [seen]. Unedited. Raw. 12 minute sunset.' 

The speculation soon spread across social media, with several Instagram accounts making memes about the sudden sunset.

Other viewers disputed this theory, however, arguing that the sun actually does set rapidly in Fiji, where Bachelor in Paradise is filmed. 

'The closer you get to the equator the shorter the sunset is. No twilight in Fiji. It's basically "sun on/sun off",' one person tweeted.

During their confrontation on Wednesday's episode, Alex and Richie danced around the real reason behind their 2017 break-up.
