And now, in an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Myles Stephenson, 27, spoke candidly about the 'hard times' he went through growing up, revealing that he was forced to sleep on a solid wood floor downstairs in his father's two-bed council house. The singer explained that after his parents got divorced, his father's girlfriend at the time wouldn't buy him a bed, and because her two children slept in the property's second bedroom, he was resigned to sleeping on the floor. Discussing the hard times he endured during his childhood, Myles told MailOnline: 'Family issues, for instance my mum and dad having a divorce when I was two years old, because of my dad messing around. 'And him not being there potentially as much as he should have been in the younger years. I always knew that he loved me, but I didn't see him as much. It was hard to see my dad when I was younger. 'That wasn't just his fault. The woman that he was with made it hard because she had two kids of her own. So I'd have to sleep on the floor, like on a solid wood floor downstairs, and she wouldn't buy me a bed. 'People go through stuff, and it makes you who you are at the end of the day.' The X Factor star also admitted that, as a teen, he wasn't interested in education, and 'liked getting into fights.' Myles said: 'I was just a troublemaker going through school. I did not like school. I did not care about education. I liked getting into fights. 'Ashley was also like me, he also liked a fight. Just teenage stuff. We were troublesome teenage boys.' Rak-Su released their E.P. Rome released in February, with one track in particular, Blood Ties, standing out to Myles. He explained: 'Blood ties is very personal to us. It's our friendship over 17 years. It means a lot to release that because we think it's important for your fans to get to know you, and not just a persona. 'We want them to know what we've been through, what we've done. We want them to know us as people, and our backstory. 'I wouldn't do this if it wasn't with those specific boys. Even before we were recording music, we bonded over music. Me and Ashley grew up free-styling around council estates in Watford.' Personal: Rak-Su released their E.P. Rome released in February, with one track in particular, Blood Ties, standing out to Myles Touching on life post-X Factor, Myles explained: 'That [The X Factor] was a stepping stone in our life as a part of a journey. 'We're done with that part of the journey and we've gotta move on above X Factor. We don't wanna just be seen as an X Factor act because we're not that. 'We don't just do pop. We're not just a pop group from X Factor. We've been writing our own music for years. 'For us, we wanna get as big as possible, tour the world and make people happy. 'And there are absolute giants who've come from X Factor; Little Mix, One Direction, who have absolutely smashed it.' Navigating a life in the limelight as part of Rak-Su might seem like fun and games, but Myles revealed he has to go to extremes to stay able to perform. Fame: Touching on life post-X Factor, Myles explained: 'That [The X Factor] was a stepping stone in our life as a part of a journey' The singer discussed the 'water dieting' which he does, because he suffers with IBS, gluten intolerance, acid reflux, and lactose intolerance. He explained: 'I do the water diet because I suffer from IBS, gluten intolerance, acid reflux, and I think I am lactose intolerant as well. 'My gluten flare-ups are pretty bad. So, any time they flare up, I just fast. And IBS can kick off at any point. 'We were in Malaga for a performance over the weekend, and I was in so much pain, so when I came back I water fasted for three days. 'You don't eat for a certain amount of days, and just drink water. I did three days of no food. I was meant to do five, but we had a shoot yesterday.' Rak-Su's latest latest single, Yours Or Mine, is released on Friday 12 April.
