Married At First Sight UK: Jack insists 'something was missing' with Verity

Married At First Sight fans were left heartbroken last week when Jack and Verity revealed they had split three months after the show wrapped.

And now, Jack has spoken out on the reasons behind the shock divorce, admitting he felt something was missing in his marriage.

Jack, 26, was matched with Verity, 28, by experts, only meeting for the first time on their wedding day, but while sparks seemed to be flying during filming for the Channel 4 show, an update at the end of the finale episode revealed they had decided to split.

Speaking to the new issue of Closer Magazine, Jack insisted he is still good friends with Verity, but he felt the chemistry was missing from their relationship.

'We got on well, and Verity always made me laugh, but there was just something missing, It was a decision I came to gradually and, in the end, I felt I had no choice but to let her go,' he explained.

Jack confessed the couple's personalities were the perfect match, but the problems lay on the physical side.

'On paper we were a great match, But, unfortunately, chemistry is something that nobody can predict,' he added.

Jack also revealed why he was so keen to stick to his no sex rule during filming for the show, explaining he wanted to get to know his wife first before jumping into bed.

'I've had a lot of stick for my no-sex rule - there's this assumption that it was because I didn't find Verity attractive, especially when I told my friends that I fancied her personality. I think Verity is a very good looking girl,' he said.

Viewers blasted father Mark, who later made a grovelling apology on Twitter, after he revealed he hoped Jack's wife was 'slim, athletic and well-spoken'.

Jack insisted to Closer that his father 'loved' Verity and is 'one of the nicest guys,' and he was simply trying to say that his bride wasn't his son's usual type.

After hitting it off from the beginning, Jack and Verity seemed to be setting the stage for a long and happy future together, and despite failing to consummate their marriage, Jack admitted in the final episode that they had 'pleasured each other.'

In their final meeting at Islington Town Hall, the couple did reveal they were going to stay married, and strolled into the sunset hand-in-hand.

But it was sadly not to be, as a flash-forward revealed that Jack dumped Verity three months later.

Explaining his decision, Jack admitted there was simple a lack of connection between him and Verity, but hoped they could move forward and stay friends.

Verity also shared her devastation with pals following the split, but insisted she did not regret taking part in the experiment.
