Eagle-eyed fans of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia may have spotted Rob McElhenney, who plays Mac in the FXX comedy, making a very brief appearance in the HBO show. McElhenney took to Instagram to post a screenshot of his grisly scene and wrote: 'Don’t blink. #gameofthrones' WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD Blink and you'll miss it: Rob McElhenney was one of two surprise celebrity cameos on Sunday night's premiere episode of season eight of Game of Thrones The 42-year-old actor popped up during the scene in which Theon rescues Yara from Euron, taking out a few of his men. One of those men was McElhenney who ended up with an arrow through his eye. Silicon Valley star Martin Starr also made a quick cameo, playing another of Euro's men to perish in the fight scene. It's no surprise McElhenney nabbed a role in the series as he and GoT creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss go way back. The 42-year-old actor took to Instagram to post a screenshot of his grisly scene where he was killed by Theon and his men trying to rescue Yara Gruesome death: McElhenney ended up with an arrow through his eye as he perished almost immediately after appearing on screen Benioff and Weiss even co-wrote an episode of Always Sunny in 2013 titled Flowers For Charlie. They also made a cameo as bored lifeguards in one episode. GoT is known for its celebrity cameos, with British singer Ed Sheeran making an appearance in the seventh season of the series as a Lannister soldier named Ed. The episode drew criticism from fans mocking Sheeran's cameo, which apparently was meant as a gift from the show-runners to star Maisie Williams who is a huge fan of the singer. Ouch: Silicon Valley star Martin Starr also made a quick cameo, playing another of Euron's men to perish in the fight scene Sheeran commented after it aired: 'It was fun being in Game of Thrones, but I definitely think they should’ve killed me off in the episode. I reckon that probably would’ve been the redemption for people that didn’t like it.' It seems fans got their wish as the season eight premiere included a hint as to what happened to Sheeran's character, and while he didn't die, he certainly suffered a very GoT fate. In a scene featuring Bronn (Jerome Flynn) with several women, one of the women comments on his fate after the battle against Dany and Drogon. Quick appearance: Starr is known for his roles in Party Down, Freaks and Geeks and Silicon Valley 'That boy Eddie,' one of the women says, 'came back with his face burned right off. He’s got no eyelids now.' Ed also took to his Instagram Story on Monday to share a photo showing the dialogue that explains his character's fate. He wrote on the post: 'Thanks @gameofthrones I knew I was a survivor x'. Ed followed the likes of other musicians from bands Coldplay and Of Monsters and Men, who previously appeared on the hit HBO show. Then: In 2017, Ed Sheeran appeared as one of Lannister's soldiers leading a campfire singing session while Arya Stark (R) was on her way to King's Landing to kill Cersei Share or comment on this article: All rights reserved for this news site dailymail and under his responsibility
