Andrew Denton reflects on THAT divisive interview with celebrity 'healer' ...

Andrew Denton received mixed reviews forfeaturing celebrity 'healer' Charlie Goldsmith on his Channel Seven Interview program last year.

And according to the seasoned TV host, Charlie's interview was always going to ruffle more than a few feathers.

'I could have interviewed a potato and it would have been divisive because that's the age we're in,' Andrew told Who magazine of the infamous chat this week.

'It didn't matter which way that interview went, I was going to get punched by one half of the audience,' he said.

Indeed, while some viewers labelled Charlie a 'fraud' and 'con-artist' who didn't deserve a spot on the popular program, others criticised Andrew for being too skeptical of Charlie's 'skills'.

Despite his detractors, Andrew hasn't changed his opinions of Charlie, who famously claimed he can cure the sick with his touch in just 60 seconds,

'I believe that there is a power in the placebo effect and I think certainly he has helped some people,' he told Who magazine.

'But I'm not sure i believe him as much as he believes him', he added.

Among those who slammed the interview was KIIS FM's Kyle Sandilands, who branded Andrew as 'one of the worst interviewers ever'.
