From boasting armies of followers to receiving freebies and commanding huge sums of money for sponsored content - many would argue being an influencer is the dream job.

But now, a leaked Instagram design prototype reveals the careers of Insta-famous stars such as Tammy Hembrow, Skye Wheatley and Cassidy McGill could be put at risk. 

According to Tech Crunch, the screenshot shows that the online networking platform may remove the feature that shows the amount of 'likes' a post has generated.

This would mean fans would no longer be able to see how many 'likes' their favourite influencers are garnering for every photo they upload. 

The publication shared that Instagram's motive behind the change is to get users to focus on content as opposed to obsessing over 'likes'. 

'We want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get. During this test, only the person who shares a post will see the total number of likes it gets,' read Instagram's test notes.

The screenshot shows the 'like count' feature replaced with 'liked by [someone you are following] and others.'

Users will only be able to see the full list of likes from their own posts, meaning it would be difficult for both companies and fans to assess the popularity and authenticity of any online influencer.
