Line of Duty fans convinced Hastings is H as he misspells 'definitely' just ...

Last week viewers watched the mysterious boss of the organised crime gang misspell 'definitely' while talking via an online chat to John Corbett.

And while many thought it was simply a spelling blunder, when Ted Hastings typed 'definitely' with an A during a police hack in Line of Duty on Sunday, fans were left convinced the AC-12 Superintendent was in fact villain H.

However others theorised Hastings, played by Adrian Dunbar, had placed Lisa McQueen as an undercover officer and was using the misspelling as a code word.

During episode four, police managed to infiltrate 'H''s computer and had prepared a series of responses in keeping with the notorious gang leader's vocabulary.

But Kate Fleming and Steve Arnott were left surprised when Ted decided to ignore the pre-composed answers to tell Lisa and John to 'bring it to a close'.

During the exchange, Ted typed: 'We pulled off the biggest robbery in years. We all want to see a profit from it. We need to get the goods out of the country. Safe passage to a port.

'I need you to bring all this to a close.'

The misspelling trended on Twitter, as thousands shared their disbelief that Ted, who dots the I's and crosses the T's, could be the supervillain.

One wrote on Twitter: Mother. Of. God not Ted. No, not our Hastings. I ‘definately’ can’t cope with this show.'
