Sheridan Smith has been forced to deny she has married her fiancé Jamie Horn after she caused confusion by calling him her 'hubby.' 

Sharing a sweet picture of them together on Twitter on Monday, Sheridan, 37,  revealed the word is just a cute nickname for her 28-year-old man. 

She wrote: 'Every time I call him my hubby people presume we are married, it’s just a nickname & I’ll let u know when we decide to get married.

'I will want you all wearing hats please so here is me pouting with the “fella”.'

According to the Collins English dictionary, hubby is 'an informal word for husband,' hence why people 'presumed' she had married.

The couple first set tongues wagging that they had tied the knot last November. 

Sheridan also sent fans into a frenzy on Twitter on Saturday as she referred to Jamie as her 'hubby' as she posted a loved-up bank holiday snap. 

The actress then mysteriously deleted the post just an hour later, after receiving hundreds of comments from fans asking if she had actually tied the knot.

In the caption of the now-deleted photo, Sheridan wrote: 'Bank holiday pouting with the hubby.'

It's not the first time the Cilla star has sparked marriage debate. 

Last November, eagle-eyed fans spotted Jamie wearing a gold wedding band, with the pair refusing to comment at the time.

However, a representative for Sheridan denied speculation they had married, telling MailOnline: 'Sheridan has not married Jamie. She often jokingly calls Jamie ‘husband’, and although they are engaged to be married, they haven’t yet set the date.
