An actress has changed her easier stage name back to her mother's maiden name in a bid to score more diverse roles.

Megan Smart, 25, who appeared alongside Jessica Mauboy in TV series The Secret Daughter, has decided to change her name back to her mother's Lebanese maiden name, Hajjar, as she believed she was losing out on culturally diverse films. 

'Hajjar is actually my mother's maiden name so I wanted to change it back to that,' she told Sydney's Confidential on Sunday.
