Married At First Sight's Martha Kalifatidis has come under fire for a tone-deaf Instagram post commemorating Earth Day.

Martha shared a photo herself near the beach in a skimpy crop top and bike shorts,  holding a bottle of water she claims to have picked up off the ground.

The caption read: 'Its [sic] World Earth Day today. Pick up rubbish, even if it's not yours! Avoid plastic whenever possible. Say no to straws.'

'Progress is impossible without change, every little bit counts! (I am guilty of using plastic bottles myself but I am making a conscious effort to stop),' she added.

While Martha, 30, may have had the best intentions, she was criticised for sharing a photo that highlighted her figure instead of environmental issues.

'Save the environment, here are my boobs,' commented one fan.
