George Clooney and Christopher Abbott are gracing the latest cover of Variety.

The actors have teamed up for a new adaptation of Joseph Heller's 1961 novel Catch-22 for Hulu but Clooney admitted that it was Abbott's role in Girls that helped score him his part.

Abbott, 33, is best known for his supporting role of Charlie Dattolo in a few seasons of HBO's hit Lena Dunham show Girls.

'That's how [Christopher Abbott] got the part was because I watch Girls sort of religiously,' Clooney revealed in an interview.

He went on: 'I actually went back and watched a couple of episodes of Chris on Girls and, listen, it's not fully my cup of tea as a show but that's probably because I'm a 57 year-old man.'

For his part, Christopher had not watched Clooney in his most famous television role, ER.

Since then the silver-fox has had a storied film career, even earning him an Academy Award, and has gotten to play the Caped Crusader.
