And Gemma Chan proved she was very much the leading lady as she dazzled in a stunning silver ruffled gown at the China Fashion Gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York, Wednesday.

The Crazy Rich Asians actress, 36, oozed sophistication as she posed on the red carpet at the glittering soirée, presented by China Institute & Yue-Sai Kan China Beauty Charity Fund.

The star's shimmering metallic number featured layers of rippling pleats, cute pockets and a dramatic train. 

Gemma, who also starred in Captain Marvel, teamed her showstopping gown with a smattering of silver jewellery, while she added a pair of pointed silver shoes to her look.

The former model's brunette tresses were styled into sleek waves while her make-up was applied to perfection. 

As well as wowing on the red carpet, Gemma took the opportunity to pose with other attendees of the event, including award recipient Jason Wu.

She also put her best fashion foot forward as she smiled for photographers alongside Vogue China's editor-in-chief Angelica Cheung. 

Elsewhere Chinese singer Bing opted for a daring ensemble which consisted of a dramatic black ball gown and a lace black eye mask.
