Speaking to the The Daily Telegraph newspaper, the award-winning creator admitted that none of his character are safe because they all operate in a 'dangerous world'.

He said: 'It's all part of creating a sense of genuine jeopardy. These characters operate in a dangerous world so it has the effect of showing that no one is safe...

'In some series out there, that jeopardy is very obviously fake. You know that something bad isn't going to happen to the characters because they've got to be in the next episode.'

On Sunday's penultimate episode of Line of Duty, show watchers saw AC-12 boss, Superintendent Ted Hastings arrested for conspiracy to murder, with all the clues pointing to him to be the mysterious super villain 'H'.
