Saturday Night Live: Adam Sandler returns to the stage after being 'fired' 24 ...

Adam Sandler got the last laugh when he hosted Saturday Night Live this week.

The 52-year-old comedian stormed the 30 Rock stage in New York City after being 'fired' as a cast member from the variety show in 1995.

And the current pop culture mania involving Game Of Thrones was parodied in a hilarious Family Feud sketch pitting the cast of the HBO hit against the superhero characters from the box office juggernaut Avengers: Endgame.

The cold open featured the game show lampoon of the two fantasy productions that had the Game Of Thrones cast versus the Avengers cast with Keenan Thompson playing host Steve Harvey.

Steve introduced the contestants as he interviewed Kate McKinnon who was playing Lady Brienne of Tarth.

'Actually it's Sir Brienne... I don't know if you saw but I was recently knighted... not that I cared... but it's like...  the highest stunner of my life.... I even allowed myself to smile' said Kate.

'Next we got a 1,000 year old witch... Melisandre! Are you really 1,000 years old? I mean... how come you look so good?'
