Fiona Horne, 52, gave up life in the spotlight six years ago to pursue a more meaningful existence with a focus on 'giving back'.

Now, the Def FX frontwoman, who rose to national stardom in the '90s, says she has no regrets about ditching Hollywood for a career as a commercial pilot, because she now has a greater purpose. 

'I became one of those celebrities saying 'yes' to everything and attending the opening of an envelope in a desperate attempt to survive and make a living in the entertainment industry,' she said in a press release on Sunday.

'It's largely a shallow, harsh industry, especially in Los Angeles - where the world goes to be famous.'

Fiona, who is also a celebrity witch, uses her job as a pilot to fly aid to stricken communities and assist with animal rescues. 

'I wanted to be useful in the world and my travels in third world countries had made me aware of a deep need of simple service and making a difference to the lives of others,' she said.
