Her characteristically quirky outfit ensured she caught the eye at the star-studded Met Gala on Monday evening.

But Katy Perry left Jennifer Lopez nonplussed after trading her chandelier dress for a bizarre hamburger inspired outfit during in a rare break in proceedings.

The American singer, 34, was determined to outshine other stars at the iconic New York event dubbed 'fashion's biggest night.'

However a trip to the bathroom, where she traded her extravagant Moschino gown for a comical hamburger costume later that night, resulted in an indifferent stare from Lopez as she sashayed past. 

In an Instagram video shared by Perry, the Latina star could be seen paying little attention to the eye-catching outfit after entering the ladies' room, her coat casually draped over one shoulder. 

Perry had already commanded plenty of attention on the red carpet after arriving in her Moschino designed chandelier dress, covered in Swarovski crystals.  

Her ensemble featured two tiers of lightbulb flames around her waistline, plus another one encircling her towering headpiece.

The singer's mini-dress was hemmed at mid-thigh, and a few jeweled straps connected it to an elaborate choker that clashed against her platinum bob.

Perry completed her look with a glittering pair of silver heels, accentuating her features with makeup.
