EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Prince William's show takes on Prince Harry's Apple ...

Royal rivalries were once fought out on the battlefield; these days they take place on the small screen.

I hear that Prince William has been lined up for a TV programme with streaming giant Netflix after Prince Harry was snapped up by its powerful new U.S. rival, Apple TV+.

The documentary would be to mark the 30th anniversary of Tusk, the wildlife conservation charity of which Wills is royal patron.

'It's a big project,' an insider reveals. 'It will be a feature-length show that Netflix will show around the world.

'It will highlight William's vital work to save wildlife and will feature Tusk's current projects in Africa. Tusk thinks it will be brilliant in spreading the word about conservation.'

Netflix would be hoping the royal programme could repeat the huge success of Sir David Attenborough's first series for the broadcaster, Our Planet, which was watched by more British subscribers than any other show last month.

In a rare coup, Attenborough was joined at its London premiere by Princes Charles, William and Harry. William's programme would be broadcast next year, when his brother's shows for Apple are due to come out.

Harry's series of mental health documentaries will be hosted by Oprah Winfrey, who attended his wedding to her friend Meghan Markle last year.

Oprah was one of the U.S. superstars who launched Apple TV+ in March, having already signed up Harry to appear in the series.

He is understood to have asked the tech giant to make a donation to mental health charities instead of paying him a fee.

Apple TV+ has been launched with the intention of knocking Netflix off its perch as the world leader in television streaming.

The rival channels are said to see the princes as key players in their battle for subscribers.

The move could alarm courtiers already wary of the princes being used in commercial ventures.

A Kensington Palace spokesman declined to comment.

When it comes to partying, Viscountess Weymouth knows how to put her best foot forward.

The wife of Ceawlin Thynn — heir to Longleat and its safari park — wore a £5,115 leopard print gown by designer Ong-Oaj Pairam to the Michael Kors dinner at Browns Hotel in Mayfair and left clutching a bouquet of pink peonies.

As the Duchess of Cambridge's brother, James Middleton, enjoys a blossoming romance with French money whizz Alizee Thevenet, his ex, Donna Air, is stepping up her own new relationship.

The actress has moved in with property developer Benjamin Carrington, 35, in West London.

'I love our new house,' she tells me at a party in Mayfair. 'We're doing the interiors now and I've been doing lots of furniture shopping.'

Donna, 39 — who has a 15-year-old daughter, Freya, with conservationist Damian Aspinall — adds: 'Freya has been watching the Kardashians, so she's been organising all the sweet jars and Oreo cookies in the kitchen just like they do.'

A Very English Scandal, about Jeremy Thorpe's failed bid to murder his gay lover, was an acclaimed book which won rave reviews and a Bafta nomination for Hugh Grant when it was turned into a BBC drama.

Now its author, John Preston, is to bring another controversial figure back under the spotlight.

He's writing a biography of pension-plundering newspaper proprietor Robert Maxwell, and is in talks with TV producers about bringing it to the screen, having won support from the tycoon's son
