Busy day: Constance Wu, amid news ABC renewed Fresh Off the Boat, took to Twitter Friday conveying a sense of frustration over the news, then said that she wasn't necessarily talking about the show. The actress, 37, was snapped in NYC in January
The Richmond, Virginia native plays Jessica Huang on the ABC comedy, which heads into its sixth season. In an exchange, Wu replied to a follower who congratulated her on the renewal, calling it 'Great news,' to which she replied, 'No it's not.' (The tweet was later removed.)
She also wrote the phrase 'dislike' under a post on the show's official Instagram page announcing the renewal.
Wu, who appeared in last year's hit film Crazy Rich Asians, became a trending topic on Twitter, with many saying she was ungrateful over her good fortune.
Wu went back on the site to clarify that her earlier words were misunderstood, as she tends to use profanity in a casual matter, and not for added emphasis.
Not so happy: Following the news, Wu put up a number of social media posts that seemed to indicate she was peeved with the development
'That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk,' Wu wrote. 'I say f*** a lot. I love the word.'
She indirectly referenced the TV show, writing, 'Y’all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. And no, it’s not what it’s about. No it’s not..what this is all about.
