He stars in the Elton John biopic Rocketman as the iconic musician's former manager and lover John Reid.

But it appeared Richard Madden was channeling James Bond at the premiere of the film, at Cannes Film Festival.

The 32-year-old cut a dapper figure in a white tuxedo jacket with black trousers and a bow tie - an ensemble custom made by Armani.

He posed with his co-stars Taron Egerton, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kit Connor and the film's director Dexter Fletcher.

Richard and Taron animatedly waved to fans in the crowds.

Also on the red carpet with the cast was Elton John and his husband David Furnish.
