It was the most scandalous show on Australian television back in the early 2000s.

And now Temptation Island is set to return to Aussie screens, with Channel Seven announcing plans this week to reboot the raunchy series.

As fans of the original series will remember, couples will put their relationship to the test by dating sexy singles on a tropical paradise.

'Together, the couples travel to an island paradise where they live the single life, housed separately with a bunch of sexy singles who try to tempt them away from their relationships,' Channel Seven said in a press release.

'In the end, will the couples leave together? Will they leave with one of the island’s ‘tempters’? Or will they break up and go home alone?'

According to Mumbrella, the series is being billed as a 'social experiment', much like Channel Nine's ratings hit, Married At First Sight.
