Steven Bradbury is revealed as a contestant on Australian Survivor

Steven Bradbury pulled off one of the most unlikely sporting victories of all-time at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

The Australian speed skater, now 45, became a global sensation after winning gold in speed skating when all of his competitors crashed at the final corner.

And if rumours are to be believed, Bradbury will be hoping for another victory as a contestant on the 2019 season of Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders.

Bradbury's miraculous victory earned him an Order of Australia and he even appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2005.

As reported by TV Blackbox, he will return to reality TV on Survivor, where he'll be competing against other athletes and members of the public for a $500,000 prize.

Other sporting greats featured in the show's lineup include AFL legend Simon Black, who won the premiership three times with the Brisbane Lions.

Since retiring in 2013, Black has focused on his football academy, which allows young athletes to follow their AFL dreams while studying for university degrees.

Actress Pia Miranda will also be taking part in the new season of Australian Survivor, according to leaked documents seen by TV Blackbox.

The story behind Steven Bradbury's miracle victory

Steven Bradbury pulled off one of the most unlikely comebacks in Olympic history in Salt Lake City in 2002, when he won the 1000m short track individual final.

He trailed four racers for the entire event before they crashed helplessly to the ground at the final bend.

The unlikely hero admitted to hanging back in the hope a few skaters would fall and he could get bronze.

His victory earned him sponsorship offers and an Order of Australia medal.

Steven revealed last year he still regrets having to accept his medal.

'Going out there and standing up on top of the podium just didn’t feel right,' he wrote.
