Kristie Mercer is having another shot at fame - this time as a contestant on The Voice.  

The former KIIS FM host told Who magazine on Thursday that she desperately wants to be a singer.

'The dream is to have the belief in myself, to be able to call myself a singer,' said Kristie.

'For a long time, I used to say, 'I can sing', but 'I'm not an artist... not a singer'. Finding the belief to sing in public again is the best part of my journey.'

Mercer went onto say she thinks she's got a 'pretty good' voice and that some people have compared her singing to that of late pop star Amy Winehouse.

Kristie is no doubt hoping for a great result on the Channel Seven talent show after her career in radio went south in late 2017.

Kristie and her friend Stacey June, AKA The Thinkergirls, were axed from KIIS FM in November 2017 after two years with the network.
