X Factor's Lucy Spraggan reveals she's having fertility treatment with wife ...

X Factor's Lucy Spraggan has revealed she has fostered 12 children with her wife while undergoing fertility treatment.

The singer, 27, who appeared on the talent show in 2012, went from being a newlywed to a fully fledged carer for young people in her home of Stockport.

Lucy and her wife Gina volunteered at their local fostering centre after seeing an advert on Syrian refugee children in Manchester needing somewhere to stay, she told The Mirror.

After an intense application, the couple were approved and began taking in children who desperately need a roof over their heads.

Lucy told the publication: 'We’ve now had 12 stay with us, ranging from newborns up to age 16, and we only do short-term placements because I’m away so much. We’re able to offer anything from a one-night stay up to a month, after which they may find somewhere more permanent.'

Lucy says her wife Gina mostly helps with girls as she understands them better. But when it comes to boy, the singer steps in.

Speaking of a nervous nine-year-old boy, who went straight upstairs to pay the PlayStation when he arrived, she she said: 'I’d bought the new FIFA game especially for when we have boys, so I went downstairs, plugged in mine, put on my headset and we started playing together from different rooms... and he soon settled in'.

Lucy also revealed she uses music to help children settle in, and the younger ones love it when she plays songs like Old MacDonald on the guitar.

She said: 'We always have music on too, and sometimes when we’re in the car with the kids and we have the windows open, music blaring, all singing along, I think, "They might remember this."'

Her busy schedule as a musician means that she is sometimes away, but they try and bring the older children to see her perform as a treat.
