Taron Egerton admits he's 'crestfallen by the decision' to cut gay scenes from the Russian version of Elton John biopic Rocketman

Taron Egerton has confessed he was 'crestfallen' by the decision to cut gay scenes from a Russian version of Rocketman.

The actor, 29, who portrayed Elton John in the biopic, said he was 'disappointed' he was not given the chance to 'fight' the decision ahead of the flick's release.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Taron wrote: 'I am crestfallen that the decision was made to censor our movie for the Russian market.

'I'm even more disappointed to hear about it second hand today on the day of our domestic release.'

The Kingsman star went on to show his support to the LGBTQ+ community, ending his short comment with 'love is love. No compromises'. 

He said: 'I in no way condone this decision and feel disappointed I wasn't made aware and given the chance to fight this move. Love is love. No compromises.'

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Taron wrote: 'I am crestfallen that the decision was made to censor our movie for the Russian market'

Scenes containing men kissing or performing sex acts were removed from a Russian version of the film, critic Anton Dolin wrote on Facebook.

The edits have reportedly hacked around five minutes from the film's running
