He is the current bookies favourite to win the Britain's Got Talent final.

And Colin Thackery has revealed that he will 'die happy' if he comes out on top in the grand finale of the talent competition which will air live on Sunday evening.

The singing Chelsea Pensioner, 89, who is the competition's eldest contestant, said that the idea of winning the show fills him with pride, as he competes against the likes of Jonathan Goodwin and X.

He told the Sun: 'I served my Queen for 25 years, so if I thought I would have the chance to sing to her, I would die a happy man.'

'It is very difficult for me to put into words how much it would mean. I cannot even imagine being on that stage in the presence of royalty. 

'It would be absolutely marvellous. Oh, and I'm looking forward to spending time with the judges too — especially the ladies.'

Colin dedicated his semi-final performance to his late wife June, who he was married to for 66 years before she passed away in December 2016.

The singer was voted through by the public after an emotional performance of Vera Lynn's famous We'll Meet Again in memory of Joan.  

Black and white images of the pair flashed behind Colin inside the London venue and he told the publication she would have been 'very proud of him.'
