Joey Vee, 42, shot to fame at the tender age of nine after a whirlwind 18-month stint on Talent Time back in the 1980s.
But rather than pursuing a full-time career as a child star after the tour wrapped, Joey decided to return back home to continue his primary school education.
Now, as he prepares to return to the spotlight on The Voice Australia, Joey has spoken about why he turned his back on fame to have a normal childhood.

'As a nine-year-old you have no fear but as you get older, you become more fearful of what people think and say. For me, doing this whole process [of The Voice] is about overcoming that,' the crooner told 9Now on Wednesday.
Reflecting on his time as a child star, Joey told the publication: 'It was a great experience. I was just a kid following my dreams, wanting to perform,'
