Sylvia Jeffreys recently signed a new, four-year deal with Channel Nine. And the 33-year-old journalist revealed on Wednesday that she wouldn't rule out a return to the Today show in the future. Sylvia, who was sacked as newsreader last year and replaced by Tom Steinfort, told The Kyle and Jackie O Show that anything can happen in the world of television. 'Never say never!' Sylvia Jeffreys isn't ruling out a return to the Today show, after signing a four-year contract with Channel Nine. Pictured on Today last year Reflecting on her move from the Today show to A Current Affair, Sylvia said that it was nice not having to wake up at 3:15am every day. 'That was pretty brutal,' she said. 'The later start is a bit of a treat, so I'm sleeping in!' When asked if she would ever return to the Today show, Sylvia replied: 'You never say never in television!' Sylvia's departure from Today came shortly after co-anchor Karl Stefanovic was also dumped following months of bad ratings and negative headlines. Meanwhile, Sylvia's husband Peter Stefanovic also lost his job at Nine last year when the network decided not to renew his contract. In January, the Today show relaunched with an all-new lineup featuring co-hosts Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight, newsreader Tom Steinfort and entertainment reporter Brooke Boney. Gone: The 33-year-old was one of the journalists axed in Channel Nine's mass cull late last year, but she's not holding a grudge and said she wouldn't rule out returning to the show Ratings have continued to plummet, however, especially in Karl Stefanovic's home state of Queensland. Addressing her exit, Sylvia said she now believes it was the 'right decision'. 'There was a lot of pressure in the valve, I think that's pretty obvious and I think everyone is in a much better place today than they were six months ago,' she said 'There was a lot of pressure': Addressing her Today Show exit, Sylvia said she now looks back and thinks it was the 'right decision' for her to go When asked how she was feeling at the time, Sylvia admitted: 'I thought all sorts of things... it was a really weird time to be perfectly honest. 'It was a mass upheaval, we didn't see it coming - not to that extent. It was testing. Everyone had their say on it, whether they were on the inside or not. 'It was big changes for my husband [Peter], for me, my brother-in-law [Karl]. There's no pretending that it's easy and fun and delightful, but we all stuck through it... and that's how you grow, right?' Over and out: Karl Stefanovic was dropped from the Today Show following months of negative publicity - he had hosted the breakfast show for 14 years Awkward: Sylvia danced around being asked whether her brother-in-law and former co-star Karl will ever be asked to return to the Today Show and diplomatically replied: ': 'I'm just glad that I'm not making those decisions' Sylvia was then asked if she thinks Karl will ever be asked to return to Today. 'I'm just glad that I'm not making those decisions,' she said, before hinting that Nine executives had perhaps acted rashly when they sacked the longtime host. 'The people who troll on social media do not reflect the greater population,' she said. 'When big changes are made, then the silent majority comes out and starts having their say. I don't know what the decision was based on exactly, it's a tough one.' Sylvia is now working as a reporter for A Current Affair and recently signed a four-year contract with Channel Nine.
