Channel Seven confirmed on Wednesday that All Together Now, hosted by Ronan Keating and Julia Zemiro, has been axed.

But the announcement came as a shock to many media observers, as the singing show's first season delivered fairly strong ratings.

The season average over its six-episode run last year was 681,000 metro viewers. By comparison, MKR dipped below this several times in the same time slot this year.

All Together Now had premiered to 813,000 metro viewers and was the second-highest launch episode for Channel Seven in 2018. 

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, former TV executive Rob McKnight explained why the network may have decided to cancel All Together Now but keep MKR as part of its schedule.
