Laura Linney gushes about returning to Tales Of The City for a Netflix mini-series 18 years after the last instalment as she says the show 'changed her life'

She's set to reprise her role as Mary Ann Singleton in the influential LGBTQ series Tales Of The City, 18 years after the show last aired.

In a pre-recorded interview that aired on Thursday's edition of This Morning, the actress, 55, gushed that the show 'changed [her] life in many ways.'

The new Netflix miniseries, which is set to be released on Friday, follows Mary Ann as she returns to 28 Barbary Lane to celebrate her former landlady Mrs Madrigal's ninetieth birthday.

She gushed: 'I had no idea how much Tales would mean to me, and for me it changed my life in many ways.'

Talking about her character in the new series, she said Mary Anne will 'meet all the new young people' who have taken up residence in Mrs Madrigal's (Olympia Dukakis) lodging, who the original characters 'can pass the baton to.'

The series will feature an array of new queer characters, including Ellen Page playing Mary Anne's sexually fluid adopted daughter Shawna.
