Kylie Jenner got dragged by a number of people on Twitter last weekend when she threw a birthday party for her friend Anastasia Karanikolaou with The Handmaid's Tale theme, and now one of the show's stars is speaking out.

Bradley Whitford, who plays Joseph Lawrence on the hit Hulu series, was on CBS' The Talk on Tuesday, where he didn't pull any punches.   

'I don't know... seems a little tacky,' Whitford said, which drew applause from the studio audience who saw photos of the party in the background.

'You know, that costume is so kind of iconic, and it’s interesting how it’s changed from initially a sort of symbol of oppression – to now, as the show is moving ahead to a symbol of resistance,' he added.

'So, yeah, cocktail party seems to sort of dash all that significance,' Whitford added.

He also spoke about working with his fiancee, Amy Landecker] this season, which he joked is, 'like a honeymoon in Gilead.'
