Stacey Dooley hits back at troll three months after David Lammy row

Stacey Dooley hit back at a troll who commented on Instagram 'At least this black person is old enough to consent to being in a photo with you' - three months after she was criticised by MP David Lammy for her 'white saviour' filming trips to Africa.

The Strictly winner was accused by Mr Lammy of acting like a 'white saviour' after posting a picture on Instagram holding a Ugandan child while the broadcaster was filming for Comic Relief in February - leading to a war of words on Twitter.

And the documentary filmmaker, 32,  was quick to respond after a follower commented on a photo Stacey posted on Instagram which showed her posing with a Nigerian woman on Thursday.

She wrote: 'I understand the wider conversation that people want to have, and I understand that some are saying they feel it’s a tired narrative...I get that.

'What is not okay is people making out like we were somehow sinister in our approach.

Referring to the uproar ignited when she posted the photo cradling the child, she continued: ‘She lied! She’s been exposed!’ ...it’s just completely untrue to suggest we didn’t ask for consent.

'We spent the day with his grandad. He has a working relationship with comic relief.

'Also, people saying, ‘she’s not listening, she doesn’t wanna hear criticism’ is bulls**t too.'

'I’m willing to listen and learn, however I’m not willing to feel I have to justify myself to those who have already made up their mind, based on info they’ve been fed, by people who weren’t there.'

On Monday the star was blasted by a Q&A audience over her Comic Relief filming trips to Africa.

At the Sheffield Doc/Fest event, the 32-year-old did not apologise for her controversial photo and boyfriend Kevin Clifton attempted to defend his partner, as reported by The Sun.

Audience member Annalisa Toccara tweeted about her experience and said Ms Dooley showed 'a lack of understanding' and was called out by one of the filmmaker's.

She went on to say that a man who spoke to her 'like I was a piece of s**t' was Strictly professional Kevin Clifton.

A source close to Ms Dooley told The Sun said: 'She went to talk to the audience member after their exchange and gave contact details to carry on their conversation.'

Referring to the incident, Stacey continued: 'A guy this week shouted out his concerns, and instead of trying to brush it off, I made sure he was given a microphone and then went up to him after the talk had finished and gave him my personal details.

'I can’t tell you how much I’ve read that is just total b****cks.

'Ultimately, the main priority is that the people on the ground felt happy with my behaviour.
