Though the conversation spent plenty of time on Tiffany's skyrocketing comedy and acting career, the two delved into the Night School star's tumultuous childhood and her stint in foster car

The impetus for leaving her family was a devastating car accident her mother suffered.

'When I was eight, about to be nine, she had a car accident and her head went through a windshield,' explained Tiffany.

'By the grace of god she lived, but she had to learn to walk, talk, eat, everything, all over again.

'[The accident] changed everything about her. I used to think she was demonized. I thought maybe somebody else jumped inside her body. "Where is my mommy. she's gone,"' she recounted as her eyes welled up and her voice began to crack with emotion.

In her 2017 memoir The Last Black Unicorn, Tiffany revealed that her stepfather told her over dinner that he had tampered with the car's breaks in an attempt to kill her mother, herself and her four siblings, but the children had decided to stay home that day.

Shocking allegation: Tiffany's stepfather allegedly told her he tampered with the brakes on her mother's car, causing her to smash her head through the windshield, altering her personality; shown June 12

Getting out: 'I used to be begging my mom if I could go live with my grandma, 'Can I please live with my grandma?' And my mom was like, 'She's not your mama! I'm your mama!''
