Justin Timberlake was overwhelmed with emotion while being inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame on Thursday.

Crediting his family for their support and inspiration, the 'NSync crooner dedicated the honor: 'To my wife, who is here tonight and who has given me the greatest gift of love. Our son is four now, and he’s dope too!'

Justin's comments come after the actress came under fire for publicly supporting an anti-vaccination bill currently being considered by the California legislature.

Continuing to talk about how his family has inspired his creativity, Justin said: 'I’ve written so many songs because of [them.] I’m so proud of and I just … I’m extremely humbled. I hope that I can represent this award for all of you.'

He thanked his peers as well, telling the audience: 'Being recognized by the people who work alongside me means so much to me. 

'I think for the first time in my career, in my life, the thing that I love to do, I feel like I’m in a room of people and I feel like all of us are in it together.'

Explaining how he finds something spiritual about songwriting, the singer said: 'There’s no feeling like finishing a song.

'The only feeling that can even measure up is when you actually hear someone sing it back to you, and how lucky am I that I get to do that?

'I’ve also said this, but if there is a God, then writing a song and having that experience — because you heard the great Yusuf [AKA Cat Stevens, a fellow inductee] say it, you’ve heard everybody say it, you don’t know exactly how they happen.

After receiving the institution's Contemporary Icon Award's Justin performed a medley of songs that included his own tracks My Love, Cry Me a River, Say Something, What Goes Around… Comes Around and Mirror, as well as a rendition of the theme from New York, New York.

Justin looked dapper as ever for the red carpet event, wearing a black blazer over a white collared shirt. He paired the look with gray trousers and patent leather shoes.

The outing came after his Seventh Heaven starring spouse joined anti-vaxxer Robert F Kennedy Jr in lobbying against a California vaccination bill. She later went on to clarify on Instagram that she does not actually oppose to children having the injections.
