Catherine Tyldesley says people changing themselves to conform to social media ideal is 'heartbreaking'

Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has said people changing themselves to conform to a ideal they have seen on social media is 'heartbreaking'.

The actress, 35, who is known for playing barmaid Eva Price on the soap, said 'everyone's a bit wobbly' and thinks we are consumed by images that are not real. 

She told The Mirror: 'We’re bombarded with these images of perfection on Instagram and different apps. But at your local leisure centre pool and no one looks like that.

'Everyone’s a bit wobbly, has cellulite , and everyone has ­different body shapes.

'But we’re consumed by images that aren’t real, and airbrushing apps. It’s slightly heartbreaking what we’ve done to ourselves.

The actress added she finds it worrying that people's mental health could be affected by the airbrushed images they see.

She believes people in the public eye have a responsibility to not manipulate the images they post to social media.
