Lena Headey reveals she was 'gutted' by Cersei's death on Game Of Thrones and ...

Cersei Lannister has been regarded as one of the best ever TV villains, she was ruthless, prideful, murderous and power hungry. 

But with her death being lackluster fans were not alone in believing she deserved a better end. 

Lena Headey, 45, who spent eight years playing Cersei on HBO's mega hit Game of Thrones, agreed. On Sunday she revealed to the Guardian how she dreamed her character would have a better death.

'Obviously you dream of your death,' she said. 'You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted.'

However she didn't blame the writer. 'I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.'

The actress hopes to one day discuss her dissatisfaction with the shows creators but simply put 'I will say, I wanted a better death,' Headey said.

In the shows controversial final episode the queen waited out Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) dragon fueled rampage, in the Red Keep. Her twin brother Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) returned to her in hopes they would escape the carnage by boat. 

Their attempt at escape was foiled when they discovered all of the exists in the tunnels were blocked. They held each other as they awaited their inevitable death, being crushed by bricks.   

Of the final scene for the icy queen, Headey told Entertainment Weekly, after the episode aired, her initial reaction to the character's death was 'mixed.' 'I wanted her to have some big piece or fight with somebody.'
