DMX is back in the acting saddle.

This time, the rapper is playing a detective in the upcoming film Chronicle of a Serial Killer.

In the first behind-the-scenes photo from the film, he flashes his badge alongside director Steve Stanulis.

He will star as Detective White, who's tracking down a serial killer, played by Brendan Sexton III.  

It's an interesting casting choice, given the Romeo Must Die actor's extensive rap sheet. 

But given that the role originally went to Michael Madsen before he was kicked off the film over a recent DUI charge, the role seems to be in good hands.

In March, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that the Reservoir Dogs actor hit a pole in Malibu while driving with a blood alcohol level of .08.
